See The Moment LRU Pulled A Fallen Containerize Truck From Cappa Road, Lagos

The LASEMA Response Unit from Cappa Base today recovered a Containerize truck that fell while trying to overtake another articulated truck while on top speed. An investigation conducted revealed that the 40 ft container separated from the body and hook with the other articulated truck. This prevented free vehicular movement on the express road. No loss of life no injury sustained.

The container has been recovered away from the road with the use of the Agency's heavy-duty equipment (Crane) for free vehicular movement and to prevent any secondary incident.

See How LRU Retrieved A Fallen Tanker From Apapa Road - Photos


The LRU team yesterday put in practice what they know how to do which is saving lives and making Lagos roads free of fallen tankers, making it motorable and attending to emergencies.

Every driver's headache is tanker on Lagos roads as they can destroy, kill and render one's life useless.

There was a fallen container at Sunrise Underbridge, Apapa which was secured and retrieved by Lagos Response Unit (LRU) of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) in collaboration with Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA). According to reports, no casualties were recorded as everything went on as planned.

See The Moment Sanwo-Olu Stormed LRU Office At Alausa - Photos


One thing that is evident of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu is that anywhere he gets to, he takes charge and this can be seen when he visited the LRU office on Tuesday.

The Lagos State Gov., Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu visited the LASEMA Response Unit at Cappa-Oshodi and the Command & Control Centre, Alausa on Tuesday during a familiarisation tour of key government agencies, according to him, he was impressed by the great work the agency and its staff are doing.

Sanwo-Olu said his administration will continue to provide all the necessary support so that the agency can carry out its mandate in a more efficient and responsive manner.

He and his entourage went round to inspect the LRU equipment and also see ways where the state government can come in.

Many Times The LRU Team Pull Of Fallen Containers Off Lagos Roads - Photos

If you ask any Lagos driver what gives him concern on the road apart from traffic, I am sure he will mention the tanker drivers and the containers which spread across the state.

Many times the LASEMA Response Unit (LRU) has demonstrated to us countless time that they are capable of saving lives and responding to an emergency on time across Lagos. The LRU over the weekend engaged in a series of emergency works across the state, for example, Ojuelegba bridge is notorious for trailers and how containers use to fall from the bridge which most causes injuries and loss of lives. Last week is not an exception as the LRU was on a recovery operation of a fallen container at Ojuelegba Bridge inward Fadeyi.

Also, the LASEMA Response Unit on a recovery operation at Kara Bridge and Ijora Olopa Bridge as a fully loaded container fell... These few images say a lot how these men battle for the lives of our road and to keep Lagos going.

Road accidents: LASEMA warns against dangerous driving


The General Manager Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu has advised motorists to always drive safely by observing speed limits, obeying traffic signs and ensuring vigilance on the roads to avoid any unfortunate incident that may lead to unnecessary injuries and loss of lives on Lagos roads.

Tiamiyu gave the warning recently at Alausa, Ikeja following an accident that occurred during the early hours of Tuesday when an articulated gas truck rammed into another stationary articulated vehicle due to non-adherence to safety and road traffic rules by the motorists.

He explained that the Agency received a distress alert at about 7.09 a.m on Monday, 5th March via the emergency toll-free line 112/767 revealing the occurrence of an accident on the Oshodi/Apapa Express Way after Cele Bus Stop inward Mile 2

"The call prompted the immediate activation of the Agency's Response Team and other responders to the scene of the incident," he said.

"Preliminary investigation carried out on arrival at the scene of the incident revealed that the driver of the articulated Gas truck was overspeeding, lost control and rammed into a containerised truck parked by the side of the road. Officials of the LASEMA Response Team (LRT) were immediately mobilised to the scene to respond to the incident", he added.

The LASEMA boss revealed that though no life was lost in the accident, persons who were either trapped in the vehicle or sustained different degrees of injuries were rescued alive with the aid of the Agency's extrication equipment and given appropriate medical attention.

“The articulated trucks involved in the incident were immediately recovered with the help of the Agency's Supper Metro towing truck, to restore normalcy and free vehicular movement around the axis”, he stated.

While noting that the Agency's Response Team, Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Nigeria Police from Okota Division all responded to the incident, he affirmed that the Police and other security operatives will carry out further investigations to ascertain the immediate and remote causes of the unfortunate incident.

Accident at Oshodi as trailer carrying containers fell, causes traffic (Photos)

It was yet another day in the city of Lagos as a trailer carrying container fell off from its hook thereby causing serious traffic within that axis, the LASEMA Response Unit was called and they are on a recovery operation at Sanya B/S, inward Oshodi, the team sprung into action and they were able to evacuate the container from the road.
