Safety Tips On Comfortable Driving Position.

Driving is stressful, especially driving in areas that are traffic prone were you spend 2-5hours sitting and driving can cause some dangers to your spinal cord that is if you are used to sitting in a bad driving position. There are some tips for you to drive comfortably and also stay healthy.

1. Tilt your steering wheel down:
Adjust your steering wheel so it points at your chest, not your head or your neck.

2. Move your seat backwards:
Move your seat back as far as you can while still comfortably reaching the pedals. You should be at least 10 inches from the steering wheel, from your breastbone to the centre of the wheel.

3. Recline the back of the seat slightly:
If you’re still too close to the steering wheel after moving your seat back, try reclining slightly. If that makes it harder to see the road, try raising your seat or placing a firm non-slippery cushion on the seat. Still closer than 10 inches? You may want to consider pedal extenders.

4. Keep your hands at 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock on the steering wheel:
We recommend that all drivers keep their hands positioned on opposite sides of the steering wheel. This is a more comfortable and stable steering position and it also keeps your hands clear of the airbag.

5. Always wear your seat belt properly:
Seat belts save lives and prevent injuries. For your seat belt to be effective, it’s important for you to wear it properly. Adjust the seat belt height so that the shoulder strap lies flat against your chest, not on your neck or under your arm. The lap belt or lower strap should be snug across your hips.

Full Lists of The Lagos State Traffic Laws And Penalties

In the face of the law, there is no ignorance, once you commit an offence, you get the result immediately. The Lagos Traffic Law regime is designed to protect law-abiding road users. It is also designed to ensure that those who flout any of its stipulations are made to face the consequences of their action so that they can be reformed and join the law-abiding group.

Traffic offences are called Strict Liability Offences: you do the offence, you pay the consequence. However, the traffic management regime is not designed to empower officials of any agency of the State to molest, intimidate, extort or make a lawbreaker out of any Lagos resident/stakeholder through the demanding and giving of bribes so as to avoid unsavoury situations. These are the full list of the Lagos Traffic Offences and Penalties.

Security: LASG to Acquire Surveillance Aircraft to Secure Creeks

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Monday restated the commitment of the State Government to ensure the comfort and safety of residents and investors, saying the general welfare of the people remains a top priority for his administration.

This is as it emerged that the State Government has perfected plans to acquire Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform, which is a specialized light aircraft, to secure creeks and riverine communities in the State.

Speaking at Lagos House in Alausa, Ikeja when he received Commanders of Armed Forces formations in the State on courtesy visit, Governor Ambode said it was gratifying that in the last two and half years of his administration, security agencies have been extremely cooperative with the State Government and working hard to ensure safety of lives and property.

While lauding the cordial relationship that exists among security agencies in the State, Governor Ambode said it was also commendable that there had never been any major civilian-military clash since the advent of his administration, and urged the military to sustain the peaceful atmosphere in the State.

He said: “All the security agencies in the State have been extremely cooperative with us. They have been able to put down that foundation that we have always wanted that without security there will be no development and irrespective of the changes we have had in terms of leadership of armed forces formations in the last two and half years, they have all done extremely well.

“Lagos is a cosmopolitan State and no matter how much efforts or resources government is putting in place, if there are no leg runners to execute those resources or even use them effectively, we will not be talking about peace.

“My aim is to ensure that every Lagosian sleeps and wake up comfortable and whatever it takes for us to do that is through the utmost cooperation of security agencies and I believe that you will offer that and as we move Lagos forward, it will have positive impact on Nigeria as a whole because everything good that happens in Lagos, is a reflection of what is happening in Nigeria.”

While assuring that the State Government would not relent in supporting security agencies with critical infrastructure and logistics to enhance their job, the Governor also urged them to continue to put the equipment procured for them into good use for the overall security and comfort of the people.

“I want to most sincerely thank Governor Ambode for all the support he has rendered to security services of the State particularly in the area of vehicles and other logistic support. I am aware you are at the verge of recording another feat getting an ISR platform to ensure a 24/7 surveillance in the creek areas of Lagos State so that we will be able to fish out the criminals that disturb people from going about their lawful business,” Yahaya said.

Lagos (Okada) Motorcycle Operators To Wear Uniforms starting from Tuesday

Commercial motorcycle operators (Okada riders) in Lagos State have been given till Tuesday to begin to wear approved reflective jackets while on the road or risk arrest.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edgal Imohimi, stated this while addressing the riders on Friday, warning that the police could not guarantee the safety of any member of the public patronizing commercial operators without the approved uniform.

He said the action was taken to enable the police to distinguish genuine commercial motorcycle operators from criminal elements using the business as a cover to commit crimes.

He said yellow and pink reflective jackets had been approved for members of Motorcycle Operators Association of Lagos State affiliated to the National Union of Road Transport Workers and the National Motorcycle Owners and Riders’ Association of Lagos State, respectively.

Imohimi advised all operators to get registered for proper identification, warning that any unregistered operator found on the road from Tuesday would be arrested for illegal operation.

He said, “If you want to be a commercial motorcycle operator in Lagos State, you must belong to either NAMORAL or MOALS. All commercial motorcycle operators are, as of Tuesday, expected to have been registered. Motorcycle operators must wear reflective vests designed by the unions with their names and numbers.

“The vests are numbered. There are emergency numbers to call in case a passenger has a problem with any commercial motorcycle operator.’’

He asked leaders of the two motorcycle transport unions to have a database for commercial motorcycle operators in the state.

Lagos - Sango - Abeokuta Road: A trap death for all motorists

A lady named Olumide Salako has cried out to the Ogun state government and the Federal Ministry of Works and housing to quickly address the bad road of Ilepa, in Ogun state. according to her, she wrote...

Is Ogun State still in Nigeria?

SOS! Fashola help. PMB, come to our rescue.

My driver who is driving on these roads for the first time confessed, “I have not seen any other road as bad as this one in Nigeria.”

I wept. At Ilepa, Commuters are trekking because the danfo drivers refused to ply the bad road. They have to trek about 7km stretch to the other side of the bad road before they can continue their journey. The strong-head motorcyclists collect between N500-N1000 from Ilepa to Ifo.

What a wicked world we live in! Nigeria is cursed with bad leadership.

Do we have a governor in the state? What of the legislooters? Do they still have their tongues in their mouth? I mean can they still talk? I have not heard anything lately from our leaders as far as these roads are concerned. Ki lo de!

See this BMW futuristic motorcycle that belongs to blade runner

I am getting scared of the way and manner that technology is about shaping our world, imagine driving this type of motorcycle in 5 years time in Lagos. This has been dubbed the ‘KHAN’, this sharp motorcycle concept depicts the future of motorcycle brand, BMW. Turkish designer, Mehmet Erdem, has created several motorcycles and otherworldly vehicle concepts in the past. Based in Istanbul, Erdem has created no less than eight other captivating BMW motorcycles, which all exhibit a unique and authentic interpretation of the brand.

In addition to the name, the ‘KHAN’s’ stylized form appears to be rather fitting for blade runner. surely, if this vehicle were to ever be produced, it would be something that Rick Deckard would consider upgrading to, due to its radical design and probable performance capabilities. Similarly to the science fiction movie, this design exercise will almost certainly never make reality and will remain only at a concept phase. still, Erdem's renderings can serve to inspire manufacturer’s designers to take greater risks, to design truly dramatic and mesmerizing motorcycles.
