Honda e’s Dual Touchscreen Dashboard Featured In Video Demonstration

Honda recently posted a new video detailing the dual touchscreen experience in its all-electric Honda e.

Honda stresses that this is the dual touchscreen experience found in the Honda e prototype, though the upcoming production version of the EV is believed to be nearly identical to the prototype.

The brief video shows how a driver can interact with the widescreen, as the second screen is out of reach for the driver. The demonstration shows drag and drop function to customize the experience and folders for various settings.

A driver can choose to move items on the near screen over to the far screen and back again. The video also gives a glimpse of the car’s navigation, voice assistant, how it visualizes the charging progress, and more.

Honda released details about the car’s electric motor earlier this month. In June, Honda released details about the electric car’s battery and platform and mentioned 31,000 have already expressed interest in the EV.

In addition, the steering wheel incorporates additional buttons and switches, while the lower area of the center console holds the HDMI and USB ports together with the power outlets.

Honda is happy to remind us it has already received about 36,000 “expressions of interest” for the all-electric E, which will be unveiled in production guise later this year.

In May, Honda started taking reservations with refundable deposits for the Honda e in select European markets. Made for Europe and Japan, the automaker hasn’t given any indication the Honda e will ever make its way to the US.

Lagos-Ibadan Expressway: LASG Allays Fears of Closure For 4-Months

The Lagos State Government has allayed the fears of motorists over the planned four-month repair works on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, saying that adequate measures have been put in place by the present administration to effectively manage the impending traffic situation.

The Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Transportation, Taiwo Olufemi Salaam, stated that in the project brief made available to the State Government, the repair works will narrow both Lagos and Sagamu bound traffic into two lanes on both carriageways respectively and is planned for two months each for inward and outward traffic from the State.

He emphasised that Lagos is well prepared and ready for the attendant traffic situation through extensive traffic management and control for the repair works which commences on Saturday, 3rd August 2019 and is envisaged to trigger and compound traffic along the corridors.

Salaam affirmed that the State has identified four locations to redirect traffic through, while the personnel of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) as well as Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) will be on ground to provide towing vehicles and other necessary support for evacuating unexpected breakdowns.

The Permanent Secretary explained that the area undergoing repairs will have floodlights and flashing lights placed in strategic places to aid vehicular movement at night, adding that having the whole area lit at night, apart from safety purposes, is also to ensure that Julius Berger completes the repair work within the stipulated period.

He also highlighted other measures already planned by the State government to include the display of advance warning signs; day and night emergency response crew; dummy flagman to direct motorists and slip road provided on both sides of the carriageway.

Salaam added that the diversion of traffic is also earmarked before the first bridge and that motorists coming from Kara will be diverted to the other side (outward Lagos) where an extra lane will be created; once work is done on that section, the same process will be replicated on the other side by creating an extra lane for vehicular movement.

While assuring motorists of the readiness of the Lagos State government to effectively manage the traffic situation during the period, the Permanent Secretary solicited for the understanding and cooperation of all road users and urged everyone to obey all traffic officials and signs for the entire duration of the reconstruction.

UK Flooded As Two Weeks Worth Of Rain Falls In 24 Hours Leaving Roads And Cars Under Water

2 weeks of rain will hit Great Britain in just three hours today as the country is hit by ferocious thunder and hail storms, the Met Office warns.

A "danger to life warning" has been issued for most of England and Wales today, with weather forecasters predicting serious flooding, blackouts and travel chaos.

After an extremely wet weekend saw flooding hit some areas, millions will have to endure more intense downpours due to the storms today.

A spokesman for the Met Office said:  "Heavy showers and thunderstorms will continue to spread north-east across England and Wales, while also increasing in frequency during the day.

"In a few places, there is the potential for 20mm (0.8in) to 30mm (1.2in) of rain to fall in an hour and 30mm (1.2in) to 50mm (2in) of rain to fall in three hours.

"Hail is also possible, mainly over northern England."

Cars were left trapped in floodwater in Levenshulme in Greater Manchester, this morning while the nearby M60 closed clockwise due to water on the carriageway and an accident.

Meanwhile, a Lamborghini smashed into trees on the M66 near junction one after the driver lost control in standing water.
Forecasters say the average rainfall for July in the north-west is about 90mm.

The area covered by a weather warning for Wednesday includes parts of Scotland, North Wales, north England and the Midlands.

Homes and businesses are at risk of more flooding over the coming days - while lightning strikes could lead to power cuts.

Temperatures will also nosedive to highs around just 18C - a week after the country endured its hottest day ever with a high of 38.7C.

Lagos, Federal Govt Sign Agreement To End Waterways Dispute - Photos

The lingering dispute between Lagos State and the Federal Government over the control of waterways has come to a rest, with the signing of an agreement for cooperation by both parties on Monday.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu received the officials of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) led by the Managing Director, Sen. Olorunnimbe Mamora, for the ratification of the treaty, which will guarantee a better working relationship between NIWA and Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA).

The row over the control of waterways surrounding Lagos started more than 10 years ago between NIWA and LASWA, with both parties locking horns in a protracted legal battle. With the new agreement, both parties will now have a joint responsibility to ensure safety, harmonise tariffs and monitor regulations on the waterways.

After signing the agreement, Gov. Sanwo-Olu said the development implied the unlocking of investment in water transportation, which is one of the cardinal projects of his administration.

The Governor described the treaty as “right choice” to end the long-drawn-out rift, pointing out that the ceremony was a testimony to the benefits the citizens could gain when agencies of government agree to collaborate.

He said: “I congratulate these two agencies of government that have found it right to collaborate. This is one of the progress we have made to promote ease of doing business and as regulators, we must always find a way to close our differences in order to convince investors and the private sector.

“Transportation is one of the cardinal objectives of this administration. We have said we have plans to introduce a comprehensive intermodal transportation system, which will cover rail, roads and waterways. A critical component of this objective is what this agreement just enabled for us. It means we are prepared for investors and partners who have shown interest in the partnership on waterway transportation to move our people from one part of the state to another.

“We are assuring investors that issues around regulations between these agencies of the state and Federal governments have eased out. Investors don’t have anything to fear again. The safety of people that will be using the ferry services for tourism and leisure is paramount. This is one of the things the agreement has addressed. We can monitor and ensure regulations are followed since both agencies are now in agreement.”

Sanwo-Olu said the effort by his government to harness the State’s potential in water tourism had received a boost with the signing of the agreement, saying the treaty had removed impediments preventing the state from tapping investment in water tourism.

Mamora said the agreement was signed in good faith and in the best interest of the people, noting that the previous administration in the State prepared the groundwork for collaboration between NIWA and LASWA.

The NIWA boss said Sanwo-Olu’s anxiousness to see the end of the dispute led to the agreement, which would result in increased surveillance on waterways, harmony in tariffs and regulations.

“We don’t need the court to intervene in ensuring safety on waterways and protecting the rights of our people and avoiding multiple taxations which discourage investors. These are the areas we are partnering on. This agreement shows that we care for our people, particularly the users of the waterways.

“This agreement means a better life for our people. What we have signed today will promote a better working relationship and collaboration for the good of our people. Our desire is to see the possibility of settling out of court because this disagreement has been on for over 10 years. The most important thing is that, once we have this understanding, we won’t have issues. Investors, too, would be free to come in, since they know there is no friction and restrictions again.”

Also, the LASWA General Manager, Mr Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, expressed optimism that the collaboration would promote safety standards on waterways, adding that it would open up the sector for sustainable development.
