Moment A Trailer Falls Into Water At Brewery Ijora 7up Road In Lagos - Photos

For those who ply this road regularly especially those who go through Apapa, Ajegunle, Orile and Ijora Badia, you must be familiar with this road. This is Brewery Road en route Ijora 7up. This road has been in ruins for years with the promise from the federal government to look into the road but nothing has been.

The trailers and tankers ply this road regularly as this road leads to NNPC depot at Ijora 7up also this road leads to Apapa-Wharf for the tanker drivers which makes this road quite a busy one for road users and also private car owners.

Early this morning, an articulated container lost track due to the bad road and poor drainage fell into the water. Though no lives were reported lost or any casualties it caused a traffic jam as the road has to be diverted for cars.

It will be recalled that in June, the federal government of Nigeria directed that all trucks and trailers on the Apapa road and bridges should be cleared, even though the order was carried out but they are yet to comply 100% as some still park on the highway.

Truck Owners In Apapa Tincan Road Adopt Palliative Measures As Road Gone From Bad To Worse - Photos

Apapa Tincan road is one road every motorist in Apapa dread, even if you have a car, many will prefer to park somewhere and trek or take a bike so as to avoid the road because the road is a nightmare to all.

Apapa Tincan has been in the news over time this is due to the unworthiness of the road around this side. Apapa Tincan is home to Nigeria's busiest and premier port, the Apapa Tincan port. It's being estimated that the port generates billions in revenue to the coffers of the federal government but it's unfortunate that the road here is nothing to be proud about.

Early June, the federal government of Nigeria with Lagos State Government teamed up to decongest the roads the trailers park, for example, the Apapa-Wharf road, Ojuelegba, among other roads have been worked on, as good as the news is, there hasn't been 100% compliance from the tanker drivers and their owners, this we will look at some other day.

The Apapa Tincan road despite promises by the federal government is still laying fallow as tankers struggle to pass this road daily, the road is so bad that tankers fall at will, one has to be extra careful not to struggle the road with the tankers else the tank they are carrying will fall on one's car.

One of the presidential committee appointed by the federal government to ensure sanity returns to the Apapa-Tincan road is Mr Kayode Opeifa, according to him, the team are doing all within their power to make sure sanity returns to the road. A close look at roads at Tincan shows that they are death trap. Having cried to the federal government and it seems help is not forthcoming, the Council For Maritime Truck Owners Association (COMTUA) Apapa Tincan first gate decided to put some palliative measures in place by filling the potholes with concrete blocks so that the roads can be manageable at least for some time.

Recently, we did a feature on the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, in the report, we share images of the construction and how the work is faring. It will be recalled that the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway has been in the news for years over the neglect of the road and how the road was totally unmotorable coupled with the fact that trailer, tankers ply this road often. Well, it seems the once dreaded road may be having a make-over as being reported by AutoReportNG.

It will be recalled that the reconstruction of Apapa-Oshodi Expressway was started by Dangote Group, under the Road Infrastructure Development & Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme aka Executive Order 007 signed by Pres. Buhari in January 2019 (Dangote awarded the contract to Hitech). The road construction is said to take 24 months to finish.

For those familiar with the Apapa-Wharf road, it will be recalled that Dangote Group and some industries teamed up together to reconstruct the Apapa-Wharf Road citing the ta relief reforms.

See The New Look Of The Oshodi-Apapa Expressway - Photos

Ever since Lagosians have voiced their anger on the Oshodi-Apapa Road especially the path leading to Apapa where a journey of 10mins is taking hours due to the bad roads and tankers that have turned the place to their garage. We have it on good authority that work has started at the Oshodi-Apapa Road. AutoReportNG sighted some images of the Oshodi - Apapa road construction, just like the Apapa-Wharf construction, the road is being done with cement and some iron reforcement. It has been 3 months since work started on this road and we can only wish the construction firm hasten up a bit.

See How LRU Retrieved A Fallen Tanker From Apapa Road - Photos

The LRU team yesterday put in practice what they know how to do which is saving lives and making Lagos roads free of fallen tankers, making it motorable and attending to emergencies.

Every driver's headache is tanker on Lagos roads as they can destroy, kill and render one's life useless.

There was a fallen container at Sunrise Underbridge, Apapa which was secured and retrieved by Lagos Response Unit (LRU) of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) in collaboration with Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA). According to reports, no casualties were recorded as everything went on as planned.
