An airport gives the first impression of how a country is. If an international airport is unruly, crowded with no adequate security, it sends a bad signal to the international community.

Its no news that the federal government of Nigeria is renovating some airports in the country, while the like of Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano and Enugu are having a complete makeover, the government through the FAAN agency is making sure that the airport is conducive for Nigerians foreigners.

It will be recalled that the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport which has also reached an advanced stage of completion and is due for a commission by the end of November. If all things go according to plan, it is said that Pres. Buhari will commission this terminal before the end of November 2019.

Remember that Pres. Buhari commissioned the Abuja International Airport December last year, also, he commissioned the Port Harcourt International Airport too. Lagos will be commissioned next year according to the minister of aviation.

The 'Chip Whip' Plate Number Did Not Come From Us - FRSC

Rember the story we featured about the Kano State Chief Whip plate's number? The picture of the plate number has gone viral amid reactions which made the Federal Road Safety Commission to come out to release a state.

According to the statement, The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has disowned a number plate bearing ‘CHIP WHIP’ used by the Chief Whip of Kano State House of Assembly.

The corps public education officer, Bisi Kazeem in a statement on Sunday, November 3, 2019, said the number plate “did not originate from any of the FRSC number plate production centres, neither was it issued by the Corps”.

He added that the FRSC could not have made such a grammatical error considering the rigorous procedure and quality assurance involved in producing and issuing licenses.

“For the avoidance of doubt, FRSC with its international quality management certification (ISO 9001: 2008) has rigorous quality procedures for producing and issuing any of its security documents which makes the possibility of such obvious grammatical errors on any of its licences an impossibility.

“We are therefore making it abundantly clear to members of the public that FRSC as the lead agency in road traffic management and safety administration in the country has nothing to do with the said number plate as some people are insinuating on some social media platforms”, He said.

He further said that the Corps Mashal, Boboye Oyeyemi, has asked Kano sector commander to investigate the origin of the purported number plate and punish the perpetrators.

When you think you have seen the weirdest spellings ever, new ones keep springing up which daunt your reasoning and ask if these people are really literate.

The number plate of Kano's State House of Assembly was sighted at a public gathering and one has to wonder who really approved such spelling to the Chief Whip of the Kano State Assembly, instead of writing "Chief Whip", "Chip Whip" was written which begs for questions like, don't the FRSC folks proofread before printing the numbers as this is nothing sort of a blunder.

The customised car plate reads chip whip in the place of the chief whip and has the symbol of a legislative mace which makes the error a blunder and an insult to our educational system.
According to Nigeria's constitution, the duty of a chief whip is to maintain the order and decorum of the House and also discipline among members of the majority party. For example, when the House is in a rowdy session, the Chief Whip of the House usually shouts the command ‘order’ usually to restore decorum and ensure the peaceful conduct of the session.

FRSC Seizes 200 Unregistered Tricycles In Kano State

The Kano State Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it has impounded 200 unregistered tricycles across the state.

Mr Ahmed Tijjani-Mohammed, the Acting Sector Commander in Kano, said this in a press statement issued on Friday in Kano.

According to him, the arrests followed the commencement of FRSC’s clampdown on unregistered motorcycles, tricycles and riders without licences.

“It may be recalled that the exercise, which is currently on going nationwide, was slated for Aug. 1 and later shifted to Oct. 2.

“This was to allow states’ internal revenue services to prepare adequately for the registration exercise, and for extensive sensitization campaigns to the target road users as well, among other reasons.”

Tijjani-Mohammedsaid said the FRSC in Kano met with the leaders of the three major unions of tricycle and motorcycle operators to ensure they sensitised their respective members.

“We made sure they understood that it was important for them to be registered and captured in the data of the National Vehicle Data Base,” he said.

Tijjani-Mohammed said the command would continue with the enforcement exercise until every rider complied.

He urged riders, who have not complied with the law, to do so to avoid being arrested.

According to a post by Jafaar, a journalist based in Kano State, he gave an in-depth into the man who owes the first private jet in Kano State.

According to him, he said, A Kano-based merchant, Mr G.R. Boyd-Carpenter, was arguably the first person to own a plane in Kano in 1928. His De Havilland Cirrus-Moth light plane flew across most Northern parts of Nigeria in the late 20s and early 30s.

When Irish female aviator Lady Bailey was flying solo through Africa along the west coast in 1929, she met Boyd-Carpenter and his D.H. Moth at a stopover in Kano as shown in the second picture.

Boyd-Carpenter later escorted her from Kano to Zaria, where she took off for London. The third picture shows Mr Boyd-Carpenter in Zaria, preparing for his return flight to Kano.

Some Amazing Aerial View of Kano State, Nigeria

It's not every time we report about Lagos as there are other states in Nigeria with little or less reportage that are doing amazing things but its either the states media aides are not social media savvy or they just don't want to be noticed. Kano State is the second most populous state (unofficial results) after Lagos State. The state also called the center of commerce is home to millions of Nigerians and foreigners. One of the amazing thing about Kano is the landscape, terrain and its serenity.

The state is blessed with some amazing images that when viewed from the eagle's eye is breath-taking.
