Lists of Nigeria Governors Who Have Range Rover Sentinel

They are class and there are places where only men thread. When it comes to class and automobiles in Nigeria, the Nigerian governors will take the pace in Africa. It was widely reported some years back that a former governor has 32 SUVs, yes 32 SUVs.

The governor of a state is the number one chief security officer in the state and his duty is making sure the state is secured from harms and attack and also attractive for investors. Nigerians love cars especially when it entails class and opulence and this mentality has gotten into government house.

Talk of governors that commands the economy of Nigeria, Lagos and Rivers States come to mind, as rich as these states are such that they are richer than some African countries, they need to move around secured and one of the many ways they get protected is through their official car. As at 2017, there are two governors that have in their fleet of cars, Range Rover Sentinel. For security reasons, it is difficult seeing the state media crew take the governor's official car, but these two have defied the norms as they are always seen in this beast. AutoReportNG brings to you Nigeria's governors who own Range Rover Sentinel in their fleet and also as an official car.

1. Gov Ambode of Lagos State

Gov Ambode can best be described as a man of class, luxury and who knows his onions. The ever workaholic governor of Nigeria's richest state needs to stay protected as he goes about doing his job and making sure investors feel safe in the state. One his many official cars is the RRS which not only is a beast but also a lifesaver.

2. Gov. Wike of Rivers State

Gov Wike is a man you love to hate, he doesn't hide his feelings and when he speaks, he steps on toes, according to reports, the governor personally inspects all road constructions across the state himself and for a man of such caliber, the oil-rich state number one man needs the adequate protection in this world.

To a regular on the street, the Range Rover Sentinel is just a normal SUV but to the security agents, this is nothing but a beast. Any governor that wants to buy this in Nigeria will have to think twice as this is not a beast for kids.

Introduction

For a governor whose daily routine involves the threat of being shot at or bombed, but whose taste doesn't run to presidential limousines, the new Range Rover Sentinel might just fit the bill. Though other Range Rovers have been modified by third-party firms, this is the first armored Land Rover to be fully engineered in-house by the company's Special Vehicle Operations division.

Model/Specification

The Range Rover Sentinel is built at Land Rover's Oxford Road facility and is based on a standard wheelbase Range Rover Autobiography. In fact, to the casual eye, it looks almost identical. However, underneath the enamel, there's a steel-plated armored passenger cell and windows of optical-quality multi-laminated armor privacy glass with a 100 mm (3.9 in) opening in the driver's window for passing documents and very small takeaway orders.

The Sentinel is certified to VR8 standard against ballistic threats by QinetiQ, which means it can withstand 7.62 mm high-velocity, armor-piercing incendiary rounds, 15 kg (33 lb) TNT explosions, and DM51 grenades going off both beneath the floor and on the roof. In addition, there's an anti-tamper exhaust, a self-sealing fuel tank, and an auxiliary backup battery with a split charging system.

Specs

Under the bonnet, the Sentinel sports a 340 bhp, 3-liter V6 supercharged petrol engine with a specially-calibrated ZF 8-speed gearbox, as well as revised Dynamic Stability Control and Ride Stability Control systems that provide the vehicle with the same off-road capabilities as a production Range Rover. This is partly to provide a better chance of escaping in an emergency, but also to address the fact that the owners of such high-security vehicles like to drive them and prefer little or no loss of performance.

In the event of an attack, the special 20-in (50.8-cm) split-rim alloy wheels have run-flat tires as well as 380 mm front and 365 mm rear ventilated disc brakes with high-density pads. If the doors are blocked, there's an emergency escape system behind the rear seats.

The Range Rover Sentinel makes its world debut at the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) Exhibition at London's ExCeL arena, which runs from September 15 to 18. It's set to go on sale in the UK, Europe, South America, Africa, and the Middle East for €400,000 (US$446,000), with orders being taken this month and when converted to naira, it costs a whopping 162million naira.

China Makes A Replica of The Range Rover Sport - Photos

When you thought you have seen it all, China kept spinning up surprises. This time around, China auto designers have gone an extra mile to copy and make a replica of Range Rover Sport.

This is not a Range Rover Sport. This is a Zotye T900 from China. Zotye is our favorite copycat brand. They copied the Macan and its prototype, they copied Mazda too and now they are also Ford’s friend. This time around, they have stepped up their game by going for Range Rover Sport.

Let's get a bit into the design mechanism, The proportions are exactly the same so also is the size which seems to be the same as well. Zotye hasn’t released any specifications yet, but on their earlier clones, they stayed very close to the originals’ size.

Going by the car's specifications, the car seems most similar to the patent drawings we saw earlier on, but with some minor adjustments. The car’s name is expected to be Zotye T900. The codename is L10. Power will come from a 2.0 turbo with 230 hp and 350 Nm, mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The interior is somewhat more original; mixing design elements of Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, and Range Rover. The instrument panel is digital, and there is a large touchscreen in the middle.

Interestingly, the touch screen shows the instrument panel, and the touchscreen. Materials look rather nice, wood and leather very classy. Recent Zotye’s all have decent looking interiors, they have made a lot of progress there in recent years.

The Zotye T900 is expected to launch on the Chinese car market in early 2019. Price will start around 170.000 yuan or $23,400 which is 8.5million naira. For comparison, Range Rover Sport starts at 1.02 million yuan, and that’s $149,000 when converted to naira is 54.2million naira

2019 Range Rover Sport Get Some New Modifications

Land Rover has unveiled the updates to the 2019 Range Rover Sport, which not only gets a new diesel engine but more available tech features.

Starting with the new engine, the 2019 Range Rover Sport is available with a new 3.0L twin-turbocharged diesel V6 that generates 245 horsepower (249 PS). The new diesel gives the Range Rover Sport a 0-60 mph time of 7.6 seconds, but sadly it is only available in Europe.

The 2019 Range Rover Sport also sees the introduction of more driver assistance features, like Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go. The system automatically maintains a set distance from a car in front of it and can bring the SUV to a full stop if traffic comes to a halt and then pull away again if traffic starts moving again in less than three seconds.

Adaptive Cruise Control with Steering Assist also helps keep the Range Rover Sport in its designated lane. Lastly high-speed emergency braking is also available.

The Range Rover Sport is Jaguar Land Rover top-selling model in the United States. Last year, JLR sold 19,153 Range Rover Sports here, out of a total of 74,739 vehicles for Land Rover, and 114,333 for both brands combined. The Land Rover Discovery Sport is the group’s most popular model on a global basis (ahead of the Evoque and Range Rover Sport), accounting for 126,078 out of the 442,508 vehicles sold around the world last year.

The Transformation of SUV: A Quick Look In The Past

The SUV today has become a household name in as much as cars are concerned in Nigeria. From politicians to clergymen to celebrities even to an average Nigerian, SUV is a type of car any man wants to be seen in. Not many know the history behind this special brand of cars. A look at Lagos roads, for example, shows that 20-25% of car owners use SUV brand of cars, but not many know the story behind this great icon. AutoReportNG brings some exclusive to you...

The forever-growing SUV has a remarkable revolutionary history. We all are acquainted with the global popularity of SUV. There have been various revolutions in its style and the amalgamation of machinery under the hood from the early days of the military to modern luxurious SUV. So let’s explore together a succinct history of the SUV.

Let’s begin!

The Brief History of the SUV
The machinery inherited by the successors of SUV is efficient in different manners. This is why it has proved to be the best vehicle in every era. From its engine to interior, the transformation has befallen in every aspect.

1. The Depot Hack: Military transport

Many people believe that the first SUV was a “Depot Hack.” The purpose of depot hack is not as bizarre as it sounds. It used to transport people and luggage just like a taxi from the station. But, in the 1940s it became evident that American army stuck in the clashes rising in Europe. For that reason, US government urged a request to a lot them a robust vehicle that would carry horde and supplies. Almost 135 companies were considered but only SUV was selected. The Willys MB and Ford model made the first massive SUV for the war. In a few months, SUV became famous with the name ‘JEEP’ and numerous models were built after getting a massive popularity. Over sixty-four thousand JEEPS were manufactured for the war purpose at that time. This was the longest running car in the history of the SUV.

2. The Beginning of the Epoch

During the end of WW-II, the popularity of SUV was at its best. The company produced SUVs that a normal person can use. This was the beginning of civilian SUV. In the 1980s, British brothers Maurice and Spencer Wilks created the first 4×4 Land Rover with the help of their industrial knowledge that was spacious enough to carry the bulk of things and people. Of course, Land Rover became one of the most iconic automobile in the history with derived features from the jeep.

3. Modern SUV

It was the first and biggest invention of the company. In the 1960s, it was the foremost SUV to offer V8 engine, luxurious look, and automatic transmission. Besides, the car even had an air conditioner and sunroof. The trend of modern SUV continued until the 1970s when the new version Range Rover was produced.

4. The Mainstream
SUV is forever. Today’s SUV is packed with a wide array of advanced features. High ride height, better security, huge cargo space, five to seven seats, advanced sound system, and many other facilities are the reason why inhabitants would never get enough of this amazing masterpiece.

Final Words
So helping military and army officers during the world war was the reason for manufacturing SUV. However, the high-performance and elegant designed became the reason for its popularity in the entire world. The history of the SUV is the proof that it has enhanced its feature over years and will continue to do so in the future as well.

Forget the SVAutobiography - The 2019 Range Rover SV Coupe is the new top dog SUV from #RangeRoverSport

When we are yet over the glimpse of SVAutobiography, the Landrover hits us with the 2019 Range Rover SV Coupe. When Nigeria's logger, Linda Ikeji got her 2016 SVAutobiography some few years, it seems she got the latest sleek in town, but with this now, she has to marvel at this wonder on wheels.

Range Rover has become such a popular division of Land Rover that it seems to overpower the parent company. With the new Range Rover SV Coupe, Land Rover gives the impression it’s trying to return a little more exclusivity to its top-tier SUVs.

Shown Tuesday at the Geneva Motor Show, the SV Coupe takes the normally four-door Range Rover (not to be confused with Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar, Range Rover etc.) and removes the two rear doors and some inches off the height to sacrifice some space and practicality for more style.

The standard Range Rovers already get the InControl Touch Pro Duo screens first introduced on the Range Rover Velar last year, minimizing the number of physical buttons and knobs in the front area, replacing them with two 10-inch touchscreens and a 12-inch screen in place of an instrument panel full of physical dials. A head-up display is also included.

The interior is also notable for the available contrasting color schemes that allow the front seats to be upholstered in a different color leather to the rear seats (a monotone upholstery scheme is also available). Land Rover says this is also its first use of “nautical veneer,” so there’s that, too.

The SV Coupe also gets the most powerful Range Rover engine, a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 with 577 horsepower and the ability to go from 0–60 mph in 5 seconds and up to 165 mph, according to Land Rover — should you want to go that quickly in something weighing more than two tons. But because it’s a Land Rover, the Range Rover SV Coupe is also equipped with the company’s Terrain Response 2 system that has preset for surfaces such as sand, mud, rocks, and snow. It also has an adjustable air suspension that can be lowered for easy entry and exit, or raised for improved ground clearance and off-road ability. Those seeking an electrified Range Rover have to make do with the four-door plug-in hybrid model.

It may be as imposing as some houses, so the Range Rover SV Coupe will be priced like one, starting from $295,000 that is about (106 Million Naira) in the US, Land Rover says. This compares to the $208,000 starting price of the most expensive Range Rover you can buy now, the four-door, SVAutobiography Long Wheelbase. But only 999 SV Coupes are being built for the entire world, and exclusivity never came cheap, anyway.
