RRS Arrests Two Robbers Who Hijacked Taxify Vehicle In Lekki, Three Other Suspects

Two suspected robbers, who hijacked a Taxify Toyota Corolla Sports in Lekki and three others that participated in the selling of the car to a dealer in the Republic of Benin for the sum of N250,000:00 have been arrested by the Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

The suspects: Michael Sosa (27), Nelson Benson (24), Idowu Dauda (30, Owolabi Shobayo, a.k.a Daju pa (29) and Biliaminu Abu, a.k.a Gengen (43) were all arrested in Ijoko and Otta, Ogun State last week for hijacking and selling a Taxify car in February 2019.

It was revealed, Michael Sosa in the company of Dosumu, now at large, had sometime in February 2019 converged in Elegushi Beach, Lekki where they both hatched the plan to hijack a Taxify car, move it to Ogun State and sell.

Sosa, a ‘yahoo – boy’, after waiting till 10:00 p.m. ordered a Taxify ride from Agungi Estate to Lagos Island. In the car with him were other suspects, identified as Dosumu and Idowu Samuel.

According to Sosa, “at Abraham Adesanya Estate, Lekki, I told the driver I wanted to ease myself. We alighted, while I pretended to be urinating, Dosumu poured dried pepper he was keeping in bottle water he bought in traffic. He allowed the substance to dissolve well.

We got back into the car. The Taxify driver was about to start the car when Dosumu poured the mixture on the driver’s head. Spontaneously, he screamed and jumped out of the car. He started shouting for help. I got on his seat and drove the car away from the scene.

I drove to the road leading to Alpha Beach, where we stopped for some hours because we suspected we were being followed. At about 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, I proceeded to Agege via Agidingbi, dropping Dosumu in Omole. I picked Nelson Benson in Agege Stadium. Nelson was to direct us through the routes that prevent us from encountering the police and to Ijoko”, he stated.

He explained further; “at Ijoko, I took the car to Alfa Mouka’s house. He was my spiritualist. I told him the car was stolen. It was at this point we began to source for buyers.

It was introduced to Daju pa and Gengen. The two of them, as I got to know later were dreaded cultists and notorious criminals in the area. Because I was new in the area, I didn’t know them quite well. The area was supposed to be a hideout for my family and I couldn’t confront the duo. I have been warned that they call the shot there.

They took the car from me, by this time, they were already scheming and getting difficult to understand. I told them I wanted to sell the car for N300,000.

Explaining his role, Daju Pa stated “Eniba (Idowu Dauda) was the one who drove the car to my house in Ijoko. He told me that it belonged to his brother. I discovered that the car had no papers. This made it difficult to sell.

We got a dealer who asked us to bring it to the Republic of Benin. Gengen and I took it across Nigeria at about 11:00 p.m. after changing the number plate”.

He added, “We sold the Toyota Corolla Sport for N250,000. We would have sold it better than that but for the papers that were not available. I took N190,000 of the money. I gave N60,000 to Gengen while I gave N40,000 to Eniba to give Michael. Although, I got to know that it was N30,000 that got to him. Our link to Benin got N13,000.

That was how we shared the money”.

Speaking on the development, the Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu stated that criminals who think they can escape with nefarious activities perpetrated in Lagos might need to think twice as the command is at alert and would haunt down any criminal in any part of the country.

The suspects have been transferred to SARS for further investigations.

RRS Arrests Three Traffic Robbers Moments After Robbery Operation

Three robbers operating around Ogun Long Bridge, Isheri, Ojodu - Berger and Agidingbi area of Ikeja have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

The suspects were arrested on Saturday moments after a major robbery operation.

Two android phones which they had robbed were retrieved from them.

The suspects - Issa Jidda (15), Alli Jumah (19) and Adamu Mohammed (22) were arrested at about 8:46 p.m. around Olowopopo Way, Ikeja after robbing two ladies in Agidingbi, Ikeja and Isheri.

According to one of the suspects, Issa Jidda, the gang had been operating in Ogun Long Bridge, Isheri, Unilag Estate, Gateway Estate, Ojodu – Berger, Fela Shrine and Agidingbi since May, 2019.

“We have been operating since last month. I was invited into the gang by Adamu. He is the leader of the gang. I have gone out on robberies with them seven times. Our targets are mobile phones, wallet and jewelry”, he stated.

“We also rob in traffic, especially Long Bridge. We avoid operating in Kara because we live there. Our colleagues might see us. We sell the phones and share the money.

"The motor cycle that we use is owned by Alli. The three of us operate on it using a knife and dagger as our arms”, the primary school dropout added.

The trio were arrested by RRS patrol team after it responded to a distress call that some robbers on bike were operating in Agidingbi.

The officers trailed the robbers to Olowopopo Way, where a motorist who got a hint that the suspects were being chased hit their okada to prevent them from escaping into the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway.

The owners of the two android phones snatched at Gateway Estate, Isheri and Agidingbi, identified the suspects.

Already, the suspects have been transferred to Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) for further investigation

Commenting on the development, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Muazu Zubair urged Lagosians to continue to cooperate with the police in order to address some of the security challenges in the State.

For refusing to give a 50 naira bribe, Police kills driver and a passerby (Photos)

The campaign to put the Nigeria Police in check has been ongoing for almost a month now. The police are meant to protect and to be a good friend to the citizen but reverse seem to be the case. This is an eyewitness account of a man named Olubiyo Joseph, according to him, the incident happened in Oye Ekiti where a policeman killed 2 people over the refusal of the driver to give a 50 naira brie. It was a sad day on the 12th of December as officers of the Nigeria Police intercepted our bus at Oye Ekiti. They forced our driver to give them #50 but he begged them that he would see them the next day, they objected. So after pleading with them, he zoomed off. Immediately, the policemen fired gunshots at us severally. The bullet penetrated the driver's head. Unfortunately, he died on the spot and our bus somersaulted; I was beside the driver.

A passerby was also hit by a stray bullet and in a state of comatose and was rejected by the hospital I was taken to. They had to refer him to the FMC. I thank Jehovah though I sustained various degrees of injury. I thank God for the gift of life, that I didn't die in the process. ...

Indeed, Nigeria Police is the worst in the world. Their DPO lied to the government that it was an accident, but the journalists, former Chairman Oye LG, Chairman NURTW Ekiti state, the slain driver's son approached me at the hospital to get the right information which I did. The incident was aired on the radio....i had to leave the hospital for security reasons, albeit, they were planning to take me to the Commissioner of Police and the governor to explain the ugly incident.

I thank God and the Bible in my hand if not, it would have been a different story. God, you are alive and great. Nigeria Police are beasts in human skin.; they are worst than the armed robbers, no doubt. These people have the oversight of protecting lives and property, but the reverse is the case. I'm sure by now, the boys would have set the police station ablaze. I thank the God of Israel for abiding with me.

Albeit, the news I just heard on the radio now is that the policeman that fired the shot has been arrested and detained and would be disengaged from the Force. But, dismissing only the shooter isn't enough. The other police personnel that was at the roadblock should also be brought to book.

Police arrests traffic robber on Anthony bridge

The Lagos state police command has arrested a traffic robber, Adewale Sadiq, on Anthony bridge after he robbed one Ms. Titi of her Huawei phone. The victim was in a Toyota Prado Jeep when two men suddenly smashed the glass of her Jeep.

On receiving the report, the patrol team who were on the ground took action and a chase ensued after which the suspects were caught with the stolen phone. In another similar development of combating crime in the state, men of the state police command carried out a criminal hideout in Oshodi where the following suspects :

Lagos is a center of excellence no doubt about it and the state governor is doing all he could to make sure the state is free from criminal activities but it seems the he more he tries, the wiser these criminals are becoming. Apogbon bridge is fast becoming a den of robbers especially when its 4pm rushing hour, these guys rob at day light and damage your car all within 30secs, and mind you they are fully armed with guns, knives and at times cutlass. A lady named Enitan Marquis took to her page to share her ordeal in the hands of these criminal over the weekend, read below..

I wasn't going to post anything about the incident but I saw that something similar happened to another lady recently and awareness needs to be raised - so people can be even more vigilant, and solutions can be sought.

I was driving from VI to Surulere at about 8.30pm on Monday 16th October. I had just driven past Apongbon when I got into heavy traffic. I noticed two men approach the drivers side of the car in front of mine, but the driver was able to swerve away from them. I sensed something was wrong, so I tried to do the same, but was unable to cross to the other lane due to the traffic. The two men walked past my car, I then looked in my rearview mirror and saw one of them look back at my car, and then he turned around and walked back towards me.

Everything happened really fast – he approached my window, smashed the window and started stabbing my arm, saying "give me your phone, give me your bag". I was in shock, terrified and stuck in traffic. I couldn't drive anywhere. I gave him my phone, he continued stabbing my arm. I gave him my bag, and he still continued stabbing my arm. 

At some point I was able to drive off, or he ran away (I can't remember which happened first). I was disorientated, scared and was driving quite erratically, hitting other cars trying to get someone's attention. I was screaming for help as my arm was bleeding out. I kept screaming to the other drivers "Help me! I've been stabbed", they just looked, no one helped. 

Eventually I rammed into a car in front of me, the man came out of his car, saw the state I was in and proceeded to help me. I can only describe him as being God sent. Out of everybody who was in that traffic only one man took it upon himself to help... I was stabbed 9 times in my arm - for a phone and handbag.

We always hear that the 'ember months are dangerous, but Lagos State, Lagos Police, WHAT IS BEING DONE to prevent these incidents? WHAT IS BEING DONE to reduce the ridiculous traffic that are breeding grounds for these incidents? And people of Lagos, myself included, WHAT ARE WE DOING to be better?

Busted: Uber Drivers Who Specialize in Robbing Female Passengers at Gunpoint Nabbed in Lagos

Two Uber drivers who specialized in robbing women of their valuables at gunpoint, have been arrested by the Lagos State police command.

According to The Guardian, the drivers, Fosta Rufus, 30, and Franklin Jogbodo, according to the Special Anti Robbery squad boss, Mohammed Sanusi, picked up their targets around Lekki, Ajah and Victoria Island areas of Lagos.

This is the second of such arrest of Uber drivers in Lagos. It was gathered that the suspects were accused of robbing their victims of valuables such as jewelry, expensive phones and cash, and their victims are mainly ladies who go out at night.

Lagos State police boss, Imohimi Edgal, who paraded the suspects at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, said the suspects sometimes would follow their victims to an ATM machine from where they would force them to withdraw cash at gunpoint.

He added that the suspects have admitted participating in three different robbery operations in the past. “On one occasion the suspects collected the sum of N86,000 from their victim using her Access Bank ATM. They have both confessed to the crime.”

He said that a KIA Rio with registration number BDG 376 EP used in perpetrating the crime and other valuables, which including Samsung Galaxy 7edge plus and iPhone 6 plus, allegedly collected from their victims identified as Nancy Nzuegbo and Eze Chinonso, were recovered from the suspects.

The Lagos police boss said he has directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to maintain police visibility in major roads and neighbourhood across the metropolis.

“I have also directed them to carry out constant raids of back spots. We hope to sustain the current low crime rate in the state” he said.

In his confessional statement, Franklin denied robbing anybody, saying it was his friend, Fosta who dragged him into the problem. He said he was the one who introduced Fosta into the Uber cab business.

According to him: “I met Fosta while working with UBA as a driver. I met him again sometime this year. I helped him to register as an Uber driver. It was him who collected the phones that were found on us from some ladies."

Lagos State Police Command through the operatives of Rapid Response Squad have arrested 10 robbery suspects that have been terrorising residents of Ayobo – Ipaja, Lagos, just as they recovered six vehicles stolen by the robbers in Onitsha, Anambra State.

Parading the suspects along with others, the state Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, disclosed that the suspects broke into their victims houses at night, packed the items found in the cars and drove them away very early in the morning.

The paraded suspects are: Abomi James (34), Omokaro Efe (48), Joseph Uzuazomaro (31), Chukwudi Onyemara (27), Melvin Umeh (33), Nisma Uttah (33), Samuel Shokunbi (34), Ahmed Waheed (37), Augustine Uchenna (47) and Udoh Benedict (39).

Edgal while reiterating his commands preparedness to combat crime in Lagos State, warned robbers collecting cars at gun point and those stealing them from where they are parked, that police was ready to track and locate those vehicle and return them to their owners.

Vehicles recovered includes and the registration numbers are: Totoya Camry (FKJ 715 ES), Toyota Camry (FGG 636 MC), Toyota Matrix (EPE 429 DJ), Mercedes Benz 4matic (KRD 68 ES), Acura MDX (EKY 534 BS) and Toyota Camry (LSR 742 EW). The suspects, he said would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.

Speaking with journalists, the leader of the gang, Nisma Uttah stated that the gang meet and resides in Ajegunle but operates in Ayobo and Ipaja. He added that for every operation, he would surveyed the area and note targeted buildings before visiting the residents at night.

He pointed out that the gang gained entrance into the buildings by scaling the fence or break part of the wall. He added that after operation, the gang drove very early in the morning when people were on their way to work.

He said that they sell the cars to a buyer who took it to Onitsha the following day after re-registering the vehicle.

Also recovered from the gangs were one locally made pistol, four cartridges, five LG flat screen TV, six wrist watches, deck woofer, three pairs of shoes, a black suit etc.

Collision between Okada and SUV claims 2 lives in Abeokuta Accident (Photos)

Abeokuta seems to be the next destination for accidents and careless drivers after Lagos. According to an eye witness that posted this on his facebook page, He said, " This accident happened today along Abeokuta Sagamu express way, claiming two life's. Pls drive safe". According to report, the accident involved a motorcycle rider(Okada) and an SUV. Police were seen at the scene of the accident trying to tow the cars and also to control the traffic. Car Snatcher From Benue Arrested In Enugu State

A notorious car snatching suspect/Armed Robbery identified as one Mike Solomon Ondo from KaKatsina-Alan Benue state but claimed to be residing in Markurdi Benue state where he is allegedly perpetrating his nefarious activities, was arrested on 18th June,2017 at Local Government Area of Enugu state along Otukpo/Obolloafor road by the operatives of the safer highways of the Enugu state command on stop and search.

Suspect was nabbed following intelligence report gathered about his nefarious activities ranging from alleged robbing of a Toyota Highlander jeep from the owner in his compound with his other members of the gang on gun point at High-level quarters Markurdi on 18/6/17 by 3 am and fled.

It was gathered that the suspect later dropped off some his gang members and started heading down towards Enugu before the operatives acting on the intelligence information nabbed him.

He is now helping the operatives of the command in their preliminary investigations in relation to his nefarious activities with his Gang members.

Recovered from him is the robbed Toyota Highlander Jeep with Registration Number GBG 44AA Benue green in colour.
