#Christmas: NEMA cautions Road users in Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi states during festive periods.


In an effort to curtail the escalating road traffic accidents especially at this time of festivities, officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Red Cross Society and other critical stakeholders in disaster management flag-off the 2017 Operation Eagle Eye.

NEMA traditionally has been coordinating resources towards responding to road accidents vulnerability especially at this period of December rush hour in which people travel for the yuletide celebrations which makes the highways busy.


Perhaps it’s befitting that NEMA has always put focus on the question of road traffic accidents most especially in this period through its initiated “Operation Eagle Eye” project to keep vigil to ensure safety in the highways.

Responding to the press at the flag-off ceremony, Head Nema Sokoto Operations Office, Mallam Suleiman Muhammad said, “Major Highways across Zamfara-Sokoto-Kebbi states has been earmark for the exercise between the December and January.

“Our officers will be in strategic places on these roads to monitor and ensure reckless driving; we also indulged drivers to be moderate on their speed limit and to avoid any intoxicant behavior.

Passengers should also be wary of the driving ability of the person who takes control of the vehicle they boarded".

The agency skilled personnel with knowledge on modern rescue equipment and techniques, first responder’s responsibilities and skills, car extrication, search and rescue operation procedures, incidence management, practical on extrication as a mission and first aid it’s a major boost during the exercise
