House Of Reps Honours Allen Onyema Over Xenophobia Rescue Efforts In South-Africa


THE Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, on Wednesday extended the commendation of the House of Representatives to the Chairman of Air Peace, Mr Allen Onyema, in Abuja for offering free air services to the Federal Government in the evacuation of Nigerians under xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

Hon. Gbajabiamila at the event stated that “The House of Representatives commends Mr Allen Onyema and recommend him to the Federal Government for higher honours in Nigeria for his efforts and support amid xenophobic attacks in South-Africa affecting Nigerians.


After a rapturous standing ovation by the Lawmakers when called upon to address them, Onyema described the commendation by the House of Representatives as an honour. According to him, the act “has brought tears to my eyes again. I have never been so honoured in my life.”

Onyema also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for acting maturely in the face of provocation, also commended the Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa.

“I commend the President and Commander in Chief, Muhammadu Buhari for the matured way he handled the issue of xenophobia in South Africa. In the face of very annoying provocation, our president showed maturity”.

“I would not have been able to do this if the federal government did not allow me or assemble those people for me to evacuate,”
