Honda Confirms Its Electric Car Will Be Called Honda e

Honda has revealed the name of the production version of its Urban EV concept, and it’ll be simply called the e.

The upcoming model will become the company’s first electric vehicle to ride on a dedicated EV platform. Previewed by the near-production e Prototype at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, it will feature a five-door hatchback body and a rear-mounted electric motor driving the rear axle.

Honda hasn’t released any specs yet, apart from the promise for over 200km (124 miles) of driving range and the ability to fast charge at 80 percent in 30 minutes.

The e will also offer a lounge-like atmosphere in its cabin, featuring a walk-through flat floor and a massive dual-screen horizontal display along with digital rear-view side mirrors. The electric Honda has already attracted more than 22,000 expressions of interest across Europe, according to the car maker. Production will start later this year, with the first customer deliveries expected to commence in 2020.

In addition, the+company has announced that the next generation Jazz (also known as Fit to these shores) will be available with their latest hybrid i-MMD powertrain, featuring the same technologies as the current CR-V Hybrid.
